My work deals with the investigation of South African cultural rituals, currently I am focusing Zulu ritual called Ukweshwama.
I have gathered information regarding Ukweshwama ceremony and I have gained a clear understanding of what the ceremony entails. This ritual is performed KwaNongoma at the Zulu royal house. A group of warriors kill a bull with their bare hands by wrenching the beast’s head breaking its neck.
I aim to examine and interpret these rituals with the aim of getting a better understanding of what they entail and how they influence people in today’s society. I am also trying to understand these practises and how they fit in a contemporary modern world.
With this investigation I’m hoping to gain a clear understanding of the background and the history of South African cultural rituals and their significance in today’s culture. Part of my concept is to investigate the socio political and cultural aspect of people’s lives in a South African context.
